Food magnet

Why is it that no matter how careful I am or how many napkins I put on my belly, I end up wearing all my food. It's like my new-found large and in charge belly has a food magnet.

This morning I arrived at work with a strawberry stain and obtained a cheese stain at lunch. I shouldn't wear white, that's for sure!

Lots of Movement

Last night while I was sitting on the couch, I could really feel Vaughn moving around. I lifted up my shirt and had Dave just watch all the movement happening in my belly. It was really neat to see all the limbs moving. Dave had a perma-smile.

Dave leaned over and started to talk to Vaughn. He put his hand on my belly and asked Vaughn if it was his foot and the baby "answered" back with a big kick. Not so much fun for mommy... :)! Then, Dave asked, "Hey Vaughnny, are you going to be a big boy and take the garbage out when you're told? If yes, please kick me." And again, there was a huge kick followed by a ton of movement. Dave is convinced he's going to be a good boy.

Grand Canyon!

Last weekend, we went up to Williams, AZ in the new camper (again). We needed to get out of the Valley because of the extreme heat. We ended up staying at a KOA for the first time and it wasn't that bad. There wasn't as much privacy or trees, but it was a very enjoyable time especially in the 70-80 degree weather versus 115 degrees.

*I forgot my shoes so LONG STORY short, I ended up with cowboy/camo/slipper boots that I wore around camp. They were super comfy but looked hiliarious. Dave now calls them my official camping boots.

While we were up there, we decided to go to the Grand Canyon since we've only been there once. Surprisingly, it was free for the weekend because "Obama says so" (this was the answer we got from the Forest Ranger).

We had a great time walking around and especially watching people's reactions to Rocco's boots. We definitely didn't want to leave the cool weather. Why did I agree to get pregnant so I was big during the summer? hmmm!

28 weeks!

We went to the doctor on Thursday to have our 28 week appointment. I've gained 3 pounds from last appointment (total weight gain at 15 pounds), I don't have gestational diabetes (YAY! and nay for the fact I had to go through that HORRIBLE horrible test!), I measure at 28 inches, and the baby's heart beat is super strong.

I'm trying to prepare myself for this final stretch. As a pregnant girl at Starbucks who was due any day told me last week, it's all mind over matter - you just gotta keep moving.

"I have a needle phobia" is an UNDERSTATEMENT

Last Monday I got my 1 hr glucose tolerance test done which consisted of drinking a bottle of orange sugar, waiting an hour, then getting some blood work done. I did pretty good - no tears even.

I got a call on Wednesday from my doctor's RN telling me that my glucose levels came back high. I might have gestational diabetes so I needed to get a 3 hr glucose screening test where I had to fast to make sure.

That leaves us to today. My appointment was for 8:30am. I didn't get called back until 9:00am though. Dave was out in the hallway on a conference call (one of his last for rentals.com!) and so when I got called, I had to go out and get him. When I opened the door, he was gone! My heart was already thumping because of what I was having to do but, Dave was gone! I looked at the nurse with the biggest eyes and told her I couldn't go back until I found my husband. I didn't leave enough time for her to even answer. I ran back out into the hall, down to the bathrooms, and when I turned back around, Dave was walking in. I was a crazy lady!

We went back to the third room on the right decorated in Spongebob to get my first poke. This one went okay. The nurse, Ruby, was super sweet and talked the whole time to distract me. She was nice and quick. Then she handed me the bottle of fruit punch sugar to drink in under five minutes. When I finished the bottle, she set my timer to go off every hour for the next three hours - that means three more POKES.

Between the first and second blood draw, Dave and I went out in the hall to finish all our thank you cards. I came prepared.

After an hour, we were called to the second room on the right decorated in "Finding Nemo". We didn't get Ruby again but this nurse was okay. Not as talkative but nice and quick. This time took a little longer to get the blood back in my face, but I survived.

Between the second and third blood drawing, they let me go to the last room on the right to lie down. Lying down made me super nauseous so I kept sitting up. I felt like I was going to throw up every where. Ruby came back to check on me - so sweet! Dave told her I might throw up and she said if I do that I would have to do the tests all over again. I have never tried to keep puke down like that ever. I was not going to go through this again.

The third poke, I was back with Ruby with "Spongebob". That one was super rough. I only had one more left though and then I could EAT!

We went out to the waiting room where it was much warmer and I read a magazine. (I had a bag of goodies!)

The last one was the worst mainly because Ruby was out to lunch and the lady was sarcastic and not friendly at all. This time, I was in the first room to the right with a "Cars" theme. This one took the longest to recover from. After I recovered, I finally got to leave!!!

We headed to Mimi's Cafe where I got to EAT!

I will get a call from the nurse sometime this week.

Daddy got a camper...Sleep at last!

I slept for ten straight hours last night! WOO HOO!!!! As I see it, I need to get nights like this as much as possible because when the little man arrives, I know i'll be woo-hooing over 4 solid hours of sleep.

The secret: Dave is truly amazing.

Let me back up real quick. We went camping this weekend in our new pop-up camper. On Friday, I got a text from Dave with a picture of the 4-Runner in front of our house with a camper attached to the back. The message read, "Daddy got a camper!"

Dave found an amazing deal on Craig's list for a pop-up. He just sold a pretty expensive house so with some of the money he decided to reward us. He drove up to North Peoria and got a nearly-new 2003 pop-up from a Tennessee couple. With all of Dave's new things, he wanted to try it out right away. Since it was going to be 115 this past weekend, he asked if I wanted to go up north. I did not hesitate. The heat is brutal on a pregnant girl!

We ended up camping in Flagststaff where it was in the low 80's - that's 80 degrees; 30+ degrees cooler than where we live. At night, I was even shivering because it got down into the 60's. So nice. I didn't sleep that well because of my eyes and nose, but it was nice to sleep in cooler, (a little) moister weather.

On our way home, we decided to stop in Sedona and go swimming. We stumbled upon an amazing swimming hole spot. The water was freezing but since it was 100 degrees in Sedona, it felt so good. Rocco didn't mind it either. We spent a little time there then headed back to the oven.

When we got home, we unpacked and got something to eat and then I was absolutely exhausted. I don't think I made it past 7:30pm. Dave went to Target and by the time he got home, I was passed out on the couch. I don't quite remember how I got to bed, but all I know is that I didn't wake up until 6am. That means I got at least 10 hours of solid sleep.

When Dave went to Target last night he got stuff for the humidifier and set it all up while I was in my zombie state. My eyes felt so much better this morning and I wasn't stuffy at all. My nose wasn't even that bloody. I love Dave so much and am so extremely blessed to have someone who cares for and about me as much as he does. What did I do to deserve him?

Let's just hope I sleep tonight!

Have I mentioned how amazing my husband (daddy) is?

I haven't been able to sleep for the past week or so. With a mixture of extreme "dry eye" and my "swollen mucus membranes" (thanks to information from babycenter.com), and the pregnancy pillow falling off the bed in the middle of the night, I continue to wake up. I told Dave about the pregnancy pillow issue so he agreed to switch sides with me since I was on the left side of the bed and have to sleep on my left side. So on Wednesday night, I slept on his side which didn't really cure anything because I still didn't have enough room on the bed.

Then, last night, as I was getting ready for bed, I could hear Dave moving stuff around in the bedroom. I had no idea what he was doing as he didn't mention anything about rearranging the furniture. I came out of the bathroom after brushing my teeth to Dave dragging the full-size bed from the baby's room into ours. He was creating what he called an Arabian King bed (as a California King is the size of two full size beds; since this is a queen and a full, he named it, Arabian). He is so amazing.

So last night I got to sleep essentially in my own bed with my pregnancy pillow and me all in the center. Rocco seemed to enjoy all the extra space too!

Dave was so curious this morning to see if I slept well. I felt so bad because I slept better but not well. It had nothing to do with the bed; I kept waking up because I would be rubbing my dry eyes so hard in my sleep or wake up with snot all over me from sneezing. He's determined to help me sleep better so he said he's not going to stop until he figures something out. Oh, I'm just waiting to see what's up his sleeve!

My husband is the cutest man alive and will be the cutest daddy ever!

Sorry for the long title but I mean every word! So much has happened in the past two weeks with travels to Pittsburgh and Chicago, a baby shower, and two weddings amongst other fun stuff. I will write about all of that later - I just had to get on to post about what I experienced tonight.

I came home from work to find a baby doll on the table - and not only was he on the table, but he was in a pillow all snuggly sleeping. Dave was very eager to show me the baby doll he bought today to help train Rocco. He proceeded to show me how the baby "worked" by taking the pacifier out of his mouth. Once he did this, the baby started to move its face followed by cooing and then some crying. I couldn't beleive how real it looked. Rocco seemed a little confused but was fine with it. Dave then bent down with the baby in his hands handling the doll with such great care...even though it was a doll. At that very moment, I became overwhelmed with the thoughts and imagery of Dave being a dad and me being a mom in three months. It was the sweetest thing to see the way Dave looked at the doll and to think, it's just a doll!!!!! My heart completely melted into his arms.
